April 3rd First round of after-thoughts

Starting to actually feel a little better today.  Was able to sleep last night for once, and my body temp's returned to normal.  Finally able to try and enjoy a cup of watered down coffee.  It's the little things in life that really keep us going sometime.

The recall effort is still going strong and my hat is off to all those hard working individuals who are out there gathering signatures for the cause.  Keep up the good work.  It's your efforts that will eventually win this for Wisconsin.

Now that I have a little time on my hands to reflect on all that has been going on recently I decided to google my name this morning and see what people have been saying about the hunger strike.  It was stirring to hear about the different fasts going on around the nation to show dissent for different class war agenda's around the  country.  Then I noticed a couple of sites and postings from people who are obviously quite opposed to my hunger strike and the unions/people's cause.  So to address that quickly I would like to say to the haters out there at this time:

Yes I agree with the point that there are worse things happening in the world.  But I  don't see how initiating a hunger strike in opposition to a tsunami would be very effective.

Yes I agree that there are worse examples of government human rights abuses in the world.  But I don't see how flying to Libya and starting a hunger strike in the middle of a battlefield would be very effective.

Yes hunger strikes are physically devastating.  But I don't see how people can keep quoting this rule of 3 about me.  After 3 minutes without air or 3 days without water or 3 weeks without food, anyone will die!
I don't think there is a single medical professional out there who will tell you that a person on hunger strike will automatically die after 21 days at precisely midnight.  There are numerous health factors involved in such things.

Yes I know independent/rational thought is a complicated thing and that the haters are being simple.  Which is why we shouldn't let emotions overcome logic and hate the tea partyers and nay-sayers.  They are not the enemy but rather more like our little brothers and sisters with developmental disabilities.

On Wisconsin !    FORWARD!!!!

Anyone with 1 ounce of sense knows you are fake and pathetic, get a life loser.

I was concerned about you, so I'm very glad you have decided it was okay to stop fasting. Very glad.

It is a logical course of action to fake a hunger strike for sympathy. Sounds like the inability to deal with the current fiscal situation in the state of Wisconsin. You are unable to understand logic of a balanced budget and all people paying their share. It is quite amazing the 2nd grade attitude you display. Did anyone play with you during recess in 2nd grade, or did you just play with yourself?

Haters is an improper term, possibly people tired of paying for exorbitant benefits. Possibly people sick of fake publicity stunts. Sick of fake hunger strikes. Cowards that run and hide across the state line. People sick of public sector employees who think they are better and due entitlements. The list could go on forever.

The ignorant comments are a drag, but as Jessica said - the fight is for every person in the nation. It is so important to stay on the moral high ground. Peaceful protests are winning from Madison to Albany! It takes courage to demonstrate. I know - as a student activist in the early 90's I saw peaceful protest prevent firing of teachers and cuts in departments of the California university system. Once again, hats off to Matt. May the spirit of MLK and the people prevail on April 4!

Champion, Matthew! Gutsy!
Obviously yours was/is a very sincere expression of concern and care. I asked a fellow Wisconsinite of yours to shake your hand for me and he said he did. Bonzer, mate, was very glad to hear you are eating again. Lol, yup, just shake head in wonderment at the simplicity of those negative toward you. With a smile, it's warming. Good luck to you!

It is amazing the people that support you and your fake hunger strike, are unable to understand reality. the amount of ignorant people that support you is a phenomenal and worthy of a circus side show. Have a good day.

Matt, I feel embarrassed and sad that I did not know of your hunger strike until I read about it today on Huffington. God Bless you. As for these anonymous posts coming out against you, forget out them. They'll never know what it means to stand up for something you believe in.

How is public sector employees paying a portion of their health care premiums and retirement economically crippling or politically disempowering for the middle class when they pay the FINANCIAL BILL!
What a stupid person you are Matt.

Perhaps Haters is not as improper a term, as it lacks defining who these people are. The ones who disagree with our cause are the ones who write "F you" on my car, and the ones who call the brave and courageous "cowards". They are ignorant about the issues, and when they refuse intelligent debate, they turn to hatred as their only defense. It's sad, and I truly feel for them, for it is they who are inticed by the unseen hand of tyranny, and they don't even know it. They don't even realize that we're fighting for them as well. They're just the starving dogs who've been taught nothing more than to rip apart anything that challenges them to think. As for you Matt, I am so glad that you are better, and taking nourishment. Take it slowly. AND THANK YOU!! Thank you for all you've done for democracy. We love you, and are always with you.

Thank you for the risks you took. I was a person from WORT who met you in the first days of your strike. We spoke for a few minutes and your friend gave me kleenex. In spite of the circumstances, it was a pleasure to meet you.

It is really depressing to see how willfully ignorant some people continue to be. It is frustrating to know they don't have the knowledge to support the very organizations who gave them the rights and benefits they enjoy in their jobs today...yes, even in the private sector. It is irritating to know they willingly believe lies simply because those lies fit into their view of the world better than actual facts. Fortunately, there are many people who understand what is going on and are willing to take time, energy and risks to change things for the better for everyone.

Thank you once again for your sacrifice dear friend. It takes an amazing level of selflessness to do what you have done for us, not only to your body, but for the message you stand for, to be willing to die for what is right and just. The trolls cannot understand what it takes to be willing to pay the ultimate price, even when it is for them also.
THIS is what Democracy looks like!

There are recorded instances of people surviving up to even over 25 weeks without food and only water. Rare, but it's not an uncommon occurrence.

Considering the sensitivity of conservatives though in the past calling out people with Parkinson's Disease and telling them to drop dead already so they can just stop wasting their tax dollars though, throwing money at a man who could barely walk telling them "here's your handouts" I can't say I'm surprised with the callousness of these comments.

People here are tired of conservatives dodging responsibility and justifying their actions. We're tired of politics as usual. We're - we as in the middle class who have been kicked too many time, are tired of reactionists bitching without answers while conservatives continuously break their promises shifting the blame at every opportunity. We're tired of somehow paying higher taxes when we're promised less. We're tired of the loss of local control. We're tired of representatives who do not listen to their people and don't even write their own bills.

We're so tired that we're energized. I even wonder if these conservatives are even from within the state where it's happening. Either way, if they're not from the state they should not have any effect - right?

I'll be supporting you by using my vote. And so will many others in my community up north.
